About The Founder

Shalena B. Johnson CEO and founder of C.H.O.S.E.N. is a native of Ruston, LA. She is married and the mother of six beautiful children. Shalena currently serves as the Coordinator of Assessment at Grambling State University in Grambling, LA. She is pursuing her doctorate degree at Grambling State University in Developmental Education, focusing on Higher Education Administration. Shalena has always possessed a great passion for working with young people. For the past four years, she has served as the youth director in her local church. Growing up was, at times, very challenging for the founder. She had limited exposure to many of the essential skills and tools to be successful in life, often leading to a lack of self-confidence and motivation. Through it all, she maintained a desire to seek and obtain better and assist others in the process. As a result of overcoming this experience, C.H.O.S.E.N. was birthed through the founder’s vision to be an inspiration for other young women, to be confident successful leaders. This dynamic visionary has many accomplishments which she is proud of but obtaining her bachelor’s degree and being courageous enough to pursue her doctorate degree, are two she is most proud.

Founder’s Motto:  All things are possible if you believe! Mark 9:23
